Arapahoe Libraries Summer reading program offers family festivals and free book giveaway

Arapahoe Libraries invites families to take part in its Summer Reading program, featuring a free book giveaway, drop-in activities and special events.

From June 1 through July 31, babies, children and teens canvisit any Arapahoe Libraries branch to receive a tote bag and choose a free book, while supplies last. They can also explore drop-in activities and crafts (available anytime during library hours) and adventure-themed events.

The program offers families ways to explore and connect during the summer while encouraging reading for fun. 

Who: all babies, kids and teens ages 0–18
When: June 1–July 31
Where: all Arapahoe Libraries branches and the Bookmobile

FREE BOOK GIVEAWAY
The book giveaway is open to all babies, kids and teens, no sign-up or library card required. Participants can choose from a variety of new and exciting titles (available in multiple languages) and receive a free tote bag, while supplies last.

Roar & Lore: Creatures of Wonder
Sunday, June 14, 10 am–noon at Smoky Hill Library (5430 S. Biscay Cir., Centennial) 
Ages 5–12. Younger siblings welcome.
A festival inspired by fictional creatures — dragons, fairies, yetis and more. Includes:

  • Meet mythical creatures
  • Wildlife presentations
  • Arts and craft stations
  • Inflatable obstacle course
  • Treat truck

Once Upon an Enchanted Ocean
Saturday, June 13, 2–3:30 pm at Koelbel Library (5955 S. Holly St., Centennial)

Ages 0–5 Children and their caregivers can explore ocean-themed activities to spark their imaginations.

Heroes Destiny: A Medieval Role-Play Adventure
Thursday, June 18, 4–6 pm at Sheridan Library (3425 W. Oxford Ave., Denver)

Ages 5–12  Kids and tweens will step into a fantasy kingdom to become royalty, traitors and spies — solving challenges and using foam swordplay to save the day. Presented by Heroes Destiny.
