CONTRIBUTED BY KYLE SCHLACHTER 4 LITTLETON CITY COUNCIL
Kyle Schlachter is running for re-election as an at-large candidate for Littleton’s City Council this November. “During the past 18 months, we’ve accomplished a lot to move Littleton in a positive direction,” states Schlachter. “There is still more work to do to steer the city forward.”
Elected to Littleton City Council in November of 2017, Schlachter is also a member of the Littleton Leadership Academy executive committee, which is a year-long program aimed to identify emerging community leaders and give them a broader view of civic leadership. An employee of the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Colorado Wine Industry Development Board, Schlachter was named by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as one of 2017’s “Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers” in the country.
Schlachter, father to two young children, has lived in Littleton for over ten years and currently lives in the Sterne Park neighborhood, in District 2. “I will continue to lead by example, to bring small-town family values, the voice of all of Littleton’s residents and innovative vision for the future, balanced with a sense of preserving the important historic character of our community,” explains Schlachter. Fostering a culture for responsible and community-minded development that provides opportunities for a good jobs, great housing and exciting places to eat, shop and play will be a guiding principle for Schlachter.
“I will continue to advance initiatives that invest in our children and our collective future.” Schlachter adds, “I love Littleton’s historic small-town nature. I love that I live within walking distance of great public amenities such as the Littleton Museum, Bemis Library and wonderful parks and trails as well as the best downtown in the entire Front Range. I want to keep Littleton a place where my children can safely grow up and where my wife and I can have the freedom to retire comfortably.”
Schlachter notes, “The Envision Littleton process has been a great success and we are working on completing the Comprehensive Plan this year. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. City Council set an ambitious agenda and I want to see that agenda through. We have a responsibility to our community to preserve the Littleton way of life, protect the clean environment, and cultivate a safe and livable community where all our residents have a chance to succeed.”
