The nonprofit is hosting the sale from 8 AM – 2 PM, Saturday, Sept. 7, in the parking lot south of Cube Smart Self Storage at 1090 W. Hampden Ave., Englewood.
“We are so grateful that a bike-sharing company donated these new, amazing bikes for this special fundraiser,” said Scott Hamburg, DSCS board president. The generous donor is liquidating its cruiser bike inventory, and proceeds from the sale will buy new toys for more than 10,000 local children in need.
Bikes are available for a minimum $100 donation to DSCS – cash and credit or debit cards will be accepted at the sale. Each bike wholesales for about $350 and features 26” wheels, high-end Shimano gears, front and rear drum brakes and lights, solid tires and anti-rust paint. Because they were made for bike-sharing, these are sturdy, high-quality bikes.
“The bikes are great for college students, urban dwellers and adults who want to just cruise around the neighborhood,” Hamburg said.
DSCS is an 89-year-old, volunteer-run, nondenominational (501)(c3) nonprofit whose mission is, A Toy for Every Girl & Boy.” The organization sets up a huge, temporary toy store (in donated space) each December where qualified families can SHOP, choosing toys for their children ages newborn through 11 years old.
