R. James “Jim” Nicholson
R. James “Jim” Nicholson has been appointed by President Donald Trump to the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
The mission of the Board of Visitors is to inquire and advise the president as to the morale, discipline, academic standing and general state of excellence of the U.S. Military Academy and the Corps of Cadets.
The Board of Visitors has 14 members, comprised of members of the U.S. Congress and civilian appointees.
Nicholson, himself a distinguished graduate of West Point, and a retired Army colonel, is the senior counsel at the national law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck. He also serves as the chairman of the board of the Daniels Fund in Denver and is a fellow at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Nicholson’s background is in law, business and public service. He served as chairman of the Republican National Committee, as U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican, and as secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
“Going to West Point and serving in the Army changed my life,” said Nicholson. “I am very grateful to play a role in the development of our future generations of military leaders by serving on the Board of Visitors of my beloved alma mater.”
