In the relative calm and quiet of Littleton, a man was assaulted and his truck stolen at the Mineral Avenue Light Rail Station, just west of Santa Fe Drive. The violent crime occurred in the late afternoon of Nov. 28.
Littleton Police received a call at 4:45 p.m. about a robbery and responded to the parking lot.
“[The] initial investigation revealed that the victim was parking his truck in the lot when he was approached by two black males,” said a release to the public that was emailed about three hours later. “A struggle ensued and the victim was struck in the head.\The suspects then stole the victim’s truck and were last seen leaving the area westbound through the parking lot.”
The victim was released from the hospital later that night after being treated for a laceration to the head, according to LPD’s Cmdr. Trent Cooper, declining to provide any additional information about the crime, which remained under investigation.
The stolen vehicle is a 2008 Dodge four-door pickup with Colorado plates 144-QEE.
Twenty-four hours after the assault, hundreds of cars were parked in the same lot, as drivers and passengers rushed to to see the Denver Broncos take on the New England Patriots.
“Well, it’s a shame. Unfortunately, we have some bad apples amongst all the great apples in the world, and we all become victims at one time or another of something,” said Paul Sheanin, a Broncos fan from Highlands Ranch. “I hope these people are caught and serve whatever penalty they deserve.”
