It looks like we won’t have to pay five percent more for the wonderful Mexican beers that are so popular in the United States.
The price could have risen 25 percent by October, and five percent this week, had Mexico not made some concessions to President Trump’s requests.
Anyone who travels to Mexico from the United States knows the drill of filling out their forms, even the little portion on the bottom of the form that one must carry around for identification and to leave the country. Don’t lose the form, or you’ll have to face the police to get out of Mexico. Hard to get in and hard to get out if you’re an American.
There is a very strict immigration policy on the United States when we go to spend dollars as tourists. So far Mexico has yielded easily to the thousands of immigrants pouring across their borders heading towards the United States.
It took President Trump to lead the concept of halting the flow of these Central and Latin American countries entering Mexico, rather than the hysteria at the U.S. border. We might suspect that many Mexican citizens are getting upset over this vast influx of immigrants, many who will stay in Mexico and take away jobs in that country from the natives.
It took President Trump to come up with the new concept of inflicting severe trade tariffs on Mexican imports to tighten their southern borders. This doesn’t stop the Mexican influx of those desiring to find better jobs in the United States, or to be reunited with family members now living and working in the U.S., legally or illegally.
Some congressional leaders, including both Republicans and Democrats, have suggested that we do more with these poverty stricken countries with their corrupt governments.
Unfortunately, government is the problem, as leaders are corrupt and a free press has almost disappeared with lack of advertising and government censorship.
Education may be one of the answers of sending well-trained school teachers into these countries to educate the masses. The Catholic church schools have probably been among the only good schools in many of these countries. Where do we get these teachers?
Cubans offer medical assistance with 32,000 doctors scattered around Latin America who dispense medical treatment along with Communist propaganda as part of their services. Cuban iconic hero Chey Guevara was a doctor before joining with Castro in the Cuban revolution.
Spending billions on the border wall is distasteful but appears necessary in light of no better solutions. If we don’t protect our borders, we will have chaos and an influx of terrorists who can blow us up with their bombs. It may be too late already.
Instead of Congress spending so much of their time and energy thinking up schemes to impeach or embarrass the president, their time would be better spent finding ways to solve the mass immigration crisis. President Trump has related that it could be solved in 15 minutes if our government leaders would work with each other. Republicans can take some of the blame, they had a majority in both the House and Senate and failed to act.
It appears that President Trump and the first lady had a very successful visit with the Queen and hugs with the French President.
Say, what you want, but it appears that President Trump is winning support in Europe and has collected billions for the NATO Alliance.
He’s on to Japan later this week and will be working for a better import policy with the Japanese on their massive car imports to the U.S. He will make a better deal with the Japanese.
Winning a tariff dispute with Mexico strengthens his hand with the Chinese. They may think that they can just stall for two more years and get another pushover leader. Trump will win the trade war if the media and Congress don’t stab in in the back.
It appears that President Trump is on course for a deservedly well-earned second term. No one calls him “Lazy.”
