Investigators responded to the school and conducted a preliminary investigation along with school staff after receiving a tip from a student anonymously through the reporting system Safe2Tell. Investigators developed enough probable cause that the 24-year-old teacher had assaulted a 16-year-old student. She was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and sexual exploitation of children/pornography/obscene material.
The investigation is continuing. Porter was booked on a no-bond hold March 22.
Porter has been teaching Spanish at Arapahoe since 2018. She served as an assistant volleyball coach in the fall and as an assistant track coach at Arapahoe for the past few weeks.
Littleton Public Schools placed Porter on administrative leave on the evening of March 21 and will not return to Arapahoe High School or to Littleton Public Schools, according to information from the Littleton Public School. A qualified Spanish substitute will take over Porter’s classes for the rest of this school year.
Brian Ewert, superintendent, said in a letter to parents, “Arapahoe administration and counselors will also be present at the beginning of each class period when we return from spring break to help support students as needed.”
