Breast cancer touched Coquette Boutique owner Meltem Yilmazturk recently and she wanted to help. Her best friend was diagnosed earlier this year and one of her employees was a survivor. Coquette Boutique established The Bra Project to boost awareness and generate funds donated to Sense of Security and the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation.
Inspired by The Mask Project, Meltem gathered 12 survivors who each decorated a bra that best fit her personality with an attached story about she overcame her battle with cancer. The bras were then available for bidding and 100 percent of the proceeds went to the two charities.
“The project was a huge success, the works of art were amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome our first year,” said Meltem. “Our artists included Sue Miller, Keri Christiansen, Anne Fanganello, Jobe Koren and others.”
Coquette Boutique is located at 3003 East Third Avenue in Cherry Creek.
Breast cancer survivor Keri Christiansen selected the CU Buffalos as her theme.
