Avs Captain Gabriel Landeskog and Jordie from Littleton in fashions from Dillard’s

It’s a sentimental favorite each year. Colorado Avalanche Better Halves – wives and girlfriends – host the multi-faceted, family-friendly event that packs a crowd. A Sunday extravaganza featured sales of mystery hockey pucks for grand prizes, a silent auction of gigantic baskets filled with players and coaches “favorite things,” a reception, a buffet brunch with players and coaches actually serving and a Dillard’s fashion finale with a touching runway show spotlighting members of the team escorting young patients from Children’s Hospital Colorado.
The Avs have a soft heart for kids especially those treated at Children’s Hospital and proclaimed them the true heroes of today. Young patients from throughout the state ranged in ages 3 – 16, including three from Littleton, one from Centennial and three from Cherry Hills Village. Some had special props – soccer balls, boxing gloves and lots of sunglasses. Captain Gabriel Landeskog was asked to say a few words and he did. Keeping it brief, he stated the Avs’ focus is on kids, families and health.
Kroenke Sports Charities is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Colorado through the support of health, literacy, education and recreation programs. Proceeds from the Avalanche Charity Brunch help the Avalanche continue to give back to our community and most importantly make a difference in the lives of our children.
