The alumnae organization representing over two dozen national fraternities for women – Denver Area Panhellenic (DAP) is in its 110th year. At its Annual Awards Luncheon, three over-achieving alumnae women were award winners and two remarkable collegians each received $2,500 scholarships. Laney Breidenthal, a sophomore Delta Gamma at DU is working toward a degree in Criminology and Legal Studies. She has been on the dean’s list and carries an impressive 3.86 GPA while embodying the Delta Gamma motto, Do Good. Abigail Hodell, a sophomore Alpha Phi at DU expects to graduate in 2020 with B.S.B.A. in Business Analytics and minors in Marketing and Mathematics. Although she maintains a 4.0 GPA in the University Honors Program, she feels balance in life is important. She is also a four-time Hornbeck Scholar recipient.
DAP’s Woman of the Year is based on 70 percent sorority contributions and 30 percent community and career. Stacey Slaughter is a former president of Denver Area Panhellenic and is currently International vice president of Finance for Delta Zeta and has numerous other titles and held various other offices as well. She received DZ’s Achoth Award and Cherry Creek High School inducted her into their DECA Hall of Fame. She is a member of Colorado Society of CPAs and Women in Cable Television.
Cherry Hills Village Council member Katy Brown won the Alumnae Achievement Award based on 70 percent career/community and 30 percent sorority. A graduate of MIT, she is an Alpha Chi Omega and has served locally and nationally. She is the founder and owner of Visionary Consulting and is a trustee for the Colorado Ballet. Her honors include one of Denver Business Journal’s “40 under 40” in 2011 and received the Junior League’s President’s Cup in 2014. In 2016, she ran for Colorado State Representative. Chosen by the DAP Delegation, Kendy Blake – Alpha Sigma Alpha won the Spirit Award.
