Cherry Creek Schools hosted its first-ever Seal of Biliteracy Ceremony, recognizing students who had demonstrated exceptional proficiency in English and at least one additional language. This year, more than 500 students received this distinguished recognition, a significant increase from 295 students last year.
The Class of 2026 honorees represented an impressive linguistic diversity, with proficiency in 22 languages other than English. Notably, 27 students were proficient in two or more languages beyond English, and 95 students were recognized after successfully exiting the district’s English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
The Seal of Biliteracy is a prestigious award that recognizes students who achieve high levels of proficiency in two or more languages and demonstrates their readiness for college, career, and participation in a global society. The ceremony celebrated the students’ remarkable academic and linguistic achievements, as well as the rich heritage they brought into our classrooms. CCSD honors their hard work, dedication, and perseverance on their language journeys.
