The Cancer League of Colorado annual Hope Ball will be held May 4 at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center. A kickoff party was held at the home of Dr. Richard and Linda Kelly in Cherry Hills Village where guests had an opportunity to purchase corporate tables or individual seats.
Edie Marks is the Hope Ball Chair with an army of volunteers including Gary Reece, president of Cancer League of Colorado, and Barb Reece, Hope Ball Sponsor Chair. This year’s ball is dedicated to Linda Goto, a dedicated volunteer for many years, who died this year.
Eva Makk has again donated a 40×30 oil for the live auction, titled Love and Hope. The Makk family of artists are the leading impressionist painters in the world today, making their home in Hawaii.
The Hope Ball will be followed by three other fundraisers: Over the Edge, July 12-13 at 1600 Glenarm Center; Race for Research, a 5K Fun Run/Walk on Aug. 18 and the Golf Tourney on Sept. 23.
Cancer League is entirely volunteer-run, with no paid staff, allowing nearly all of its annual revenue to go directly toward cancer research and service grants rather than administrative overhead. There are more than 400 dues-paying members. Cancer League has filled a unique niche throughout its 43 years, providing seed grants for promising yet untested cancer research projects – the types of grants no other funder offers on a systematic basis in the Rocky Mountain region.
Tickets for the Ball are still available. For information, visit www.cancerleague.org.
