The arrest of Angelo Alston, 17 was made Aug. 31 in Aurora. He has been charged with 32 counts related to the Aug. 20 shooting of Cherry Hills Village Police Officer Cory Sack during a home invasion.
The felony charges range from attempted murder of a peace officer, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, theft and menacing.
The teenager is being charged as an adult and appeared in court Sept. 6. The judge set bond at $1 million and if he is convicted, he could do additional prison time because six of the counts are enhancers.
Alston was due to appear in court again Sept. 11.
Sack, a seven-year veteran of the CHVPD was shot in the left leg above the knee and the right foot responding to a 911 call. He has undergone four surgeries for the injuries. Sack is in good spirits according to CHV police chief Michelle Tovrea.
