Incumbent directors Terry Kirkpatrick and Don Winslow were reelected to four-year terms for the Southgate Water and Sanitation District boards in the May 4 election.

More than 6,000 customers voted, mostly by mail-in ballot, which delayed the announcement of the results until May 6.

A handful of people voted at polling places in Douglas and Arapahoe counties, while the bulk cast their votes by mail, a Southgate clerk said.

The results are unofficial until they go before the canvassing board.

Initial results are as follows:

For the Southgate Water District, Winslow received 1,216 votes and Kirkpatrick 1,095. Challenger David Culberson received 862 votes and Peter Gable received 768.

The Southgate Sanitation District had the most voter interest. Winslow received 1,888 votes and Kirkpatrick 1,859. Culberson received 1,534 and Gabel 1,324.

Kirkpatrick had served as vice president of the board before his reelection. Winslow has been the secretary of the board.
