Nancy Sharpe beats Lauri Clapp in commissioner primary

Greenwood Village Mayor Nancy Sharpe beat Republican challenger Lauri Clapp by more than 1,000 votes to earn the nomination in the District 2 Arapahoe County commissioner race.

Sharpe will face Centennial City Councilwoman Rebecca McClellan, a Democrat, in the November election.

Sharpe received 7,370 votes, compared to 6,259 for Clapp, according to the clerk and recorder’s website www.arapahoevotes.com.

In the District 4 race, Aurora City Councilman Bob FitzGerald won the primary race against fellow Republican Bruce Petersen.

FitzGerald received 3,481 votes to Petersen’s 3,104, according to the website.
