CENTENNIALThe Streets at SouthGlenn celebrates its first anniversary this month. Celebrations will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28. Festivities will include entertainment for kids from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., free bags for the first 365 customers sponsored by University of Phoenix and special offers from several retailers and restaurants.

The Streets at SouthGlenn will also host a cake-decorating contest. Grand prize is a $250 gift card to The Streets at SouthGlenn. Open to the public, this contest asks participants to follow the theme “Celebrate Southglenn.” The contest will be held in Commons Park and judged by a panel, including Mayor Cathy Noon. The official grand opening of The Streets at SouthGlenn was held one year ago, Aug. 28-30, with the opening of many new shops and restaurants including Mellow Mushroom, Irresistibles, Kismet, Sous Le Lit, Color Me Mine, The Oven, Salon AKA, 720 Board Shop, Diego Zhang’s, Larry Johnson Gallery, Bouquets and many more. Today, the center is home to ongoing entertainment and more than 60 retail, restaurant, service and entertainment options in a completely outdoor setting with new stores opening regularly. Comprised of 1.2 million square feet of retail, 140,000 square feet of Silver LEED certified, Class A office space, and 202 luxury apartments, the project combines national retail shops, local boutiques, restaurants, 24 Hour Fitness and Hollywood Theaters in a completely unique, outdoor setting.

Commons Park hosts year round events and entertainment such as a monthly market and a concert series in the summer. In the winter, Commons Park is home to Santa, The Cube – The Streets at SouthGlenn ice skating rink, and a living, Colorado-grown Christmas tree that is illuminated with a tree lighting ceremony each year to kick off the holiday season. With The Streets at SouthGlenn’s unique mix of retail, dining, entertainment and event options, the center offers shoppers, employees and residents a place to go for both daily needs and special occasions.
