Saigon Landing is a newer member of the Greenwood Village Chamber of Commerce. The morning after the fire I went to pay them a visit to see if the Chamber could be of assistance.
Upon pulling into the parking lot I could see the substantial burned opening to the roof of the restaurant.
The roof and attic were damaged severely at Saigon Landing when a suspected lightning strike caused a fire at the restaurant.
Inside, I could see the damage to the once attractive dinning area. I found the owners Victor Chan and Michelle Chan. They were meeting with fire and insurance representatives.
The damage to the interior was confined to the entry dining area.
Being a retired firefighter and having seen many such fires I was impressed at the excellent work the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority crews did that night. The fire was stopped in the attic space. The damage to the interior was from water and smoke. South Metro did a tremendous job of protecting the dining and hostess areas to insure minimal damage occurred.
Insulation hangs from the rafters of the damaged roof at Saigon Landing. The light streaming in is from the sun. Photos by Douglas Miller, GV Chamber of Commerce.
The owners and staff were of course shaken by the incident yet confided they will reopen in about two months, Victor Chan said.
Saigon Landing is near Palazzo Verdi this year’s venue of The Taste of Greenwood Village.
Saigon Landing had signed on to be one of the presenting restaurants and their first time at the Taste. The Chans aren’t sure if they’ll be able to present now, but if possible, they’ll be there.
Michelle said it is a great event that they are looking forward to being a part of it if they can.
The GV Chamber will do all it can to help them so attendees can enjoy their delicious Asian cuisine.
Plans are already in the works so that when Saigon Landing is ready for its Grand Re-Opening the Greenwood Village Chamber of Commerce and its members will be eager to welcome them back in business.
