Police Chief Donnie Perry

Greenwood Village Police Chief Donnie Perry announced he will be stepping down Sept. 3.

Perry said he was retiring because the time is right and that he wants to spend more time with his family, a source told The Villager Aug. 24.

Perry was appointed chief in 2006 after serving as interim chief about a year. He started in law enforcement with Arvada in 1986, joining the GVPD two years later.

Perry said on the city website that he considered himself as a coach and mentor.
