Cool breezes caressed the open avenues of The Vistas at Park Meadows last weekend, hosting A Taste of Lone Tree, Art & Food Festival, presented by the Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce.
A taste is correct, as tasty full portions of entrées were offered in two sizes, one for small appetites at $2 and grown-up sizes for $4 and worth every penny, with restaurant booths sidled up next to artists’ booths offering items from 50 juried artisans with their elegant paintings, photography, pottery and jewelry. Over at a kids’ tent children impressed their parents with their own art, created between spoonfuls of mac and cheese and pizza. What more can any family ask for on a late summer Saturday and Sunday?
The whole endeavor was co-chaired by city of Lone Tree Councilwoman Susan Squyer and Donna Russell. We chatted with them in the shade outside the Vistas restaurants as aromas wafted from several walkways. Pasquinis, Pasta J’s, CJ’s Custard and Nothing Bundt Cakes were among the cheerfully staffed stalls and even as jaded as we are sometimes, these cakes left us really impressed, planning to call them for our next dinner party. They were showing off flavors such as red velvet, white chocolate raspberry, cinnamon swirl and white, white chocolate. What’s not to love and why not start with dessert to take the edge off your appetite?
Of course, sweet potato fries and ribs made for a well-rounded Sunday brunch, Villager style.
We didn’t go away empty handed after shopping and snacking were complete as we grabbed a city of Lone Tree Retail, Restaurant & Entertainment Guide, finding there lots of eateries we’d never visited and will have by the time you read this.
Our favorite place to park at Park Meadows is around back of the Nordstrom first floor lot and after another shop till you drop episode we’re going to drop into the store’s restaurant which features a full menu, reasonably priced and designed for their target buyer, the ladies who hang together on mom’s play dates.
