The HealthONE network of area hospitals opened its newest addition, Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, at the Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation Kaleidoscope Ball, Through the Eyes of a Child, so well marketed that not only did it sell out to the 500 expected guests, in the last 48 hours before it got under way, Aug. 21, another 150 reservations came in, according to committee member, Steve Edmonds.
He told us that as we were all surrounded by a throng of guests, including Young Pros founder Quinn Washington and his proud dad, Dr. Reggie Washington, the new hospital’s Chief Medical Officer; Reggie’s wife, Faye Washington, and the family’s numerous friends as well as HealthONE dignitaries. Faye and Margie Mauldin co-chaired the ball.
Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children is physically part of the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center campus and some facilities are jointly shared. This allows high-risk mothers-to-be to remain in one place after the baby is delivered. Guests got to tour part of the massive facility normally off limits to the general public. Those areas were part of the walkabout buffet tour as guests sipped avocado shots, munched on mini-lamb chops and green eggs and ham, the “green eggs” actually spinach and mozzarella, from Syd Sexton’s Gourmet Fine Catering. Soft shades of pleasing colors and a suspended mobile engage children who come through their doors.
Sitting in the nearby café, we got a glimpse of what’s hot for fall cocktail attire and it’s obviously, the LBD, little black dress, although several wore a kaleidoscope of colorful frocks.
Among the committee members and their significant others we spotted during the party included Janet and Eula Adams, Helenn Franzgrote, Janet Buckner, Kathryn and Jim Kaiser, Monica and Frances Owens, Danielle Washington LaCabe and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children CEO Mimi Roberson.
On the new Foundation’s board are Chair Deb Roads, Jim Conley, Bob Heykoop, Dr. Jeffrey Hanson, Barbara Kelley, Elisa Moran and Dr. Jerry Anderson.
This ball was such cocktail attire fun, we hope it’s repeated annually, continuing to attract the huge turnout of upscale young professionals, the seasoned society set and those whose lives and lives of their children are affected by the inner city’s facility.
