Pat Calvert makes her way down the side of One Lincoln Place, Aug. 27, in support of Cancer League of Colorado.

When Cancer League of Colorado wanted to raise funds for in state, unduplicated cancer research, they literally went “Over the Edge,” Aug. 27 and 28.

Members and other supporters paid or raised at least $1,000 per person to rappel down One Lincoln Place, a 28-story condominium building in downtown Denver. The two-day vertical excursion sold out, with 100 participants. The nonprofit engaged a professional rappelling business, as well as volunteers to help gear up men and women, giving them thorough instructions on how to walk, hop or simply slide down to the seventh floor and a ball was had by all.

Among the brave: Quinn Washington, leader of Cancer League’s Young Pros, as well as League President Gary Reece, Over the Edge Chair Rachel Neumann, Jeff Smith, Michael Pollak, Jim Hackstaff, Scott Young, Jerry DeWitt, Sue Jenkins, KOSI’s Murphy Houston, Rocky (Rockies mascot), Dianna Miller, Scott Jentz, Olivia Millradt, Courtney Mizel, Melanie Pearlman, Steven Toltz, Erich Tiepel, Morgan Singleton, Dr. Larry Spivack and past League presidents Dave Weisberg and Marsha Lunnon.
